First off, a heartfelt thank-you to
everyone who made my Body Part Auction such an overwhelming success! We raised
over $1500, and it was a super fun evening! Here are photos of the aftermath.

Thanks also to everyone else who has donated. Your generosity means a
lot to me, and it will make such a big difference in the lives of people living
with HIV/AIDS.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Finally, I'd like to thank everyone for the words of support and
encouragement I've received, whether over e-mail from friends across the
country or from other runners while we're out on our long Saturday morning
runs. It helps keep my enthusiasm up!
And now for an update on my training!
Every Saturday about 200 of us AIDS Marathoners meet down in Southeast DC,
break into our pace groups and head out for long runs. Here are some photos
of them from last Saturday. They’ll be running 9 miles this coming weekend, but
I have to miss the group run. (I’m going to an Ultimate tournament in Ohio instead!!)
I’m planning to do it on my own early Friday morning, but there’s a good chance
I’ll let this week slide and catch up with them for the 10 mile run on the 18th.
I think I can get away with that now, but in a few weeks, when we’re up into
the 16 and 18 mile runs, I’m going to have to be more diligent! (A note to the
rents: I’ll be home in MN for the scheduled 20 mile run, so you’re in charge of
making sure I go out and do that one!)
During the week, we go for two 30-minute runs on our
own. This was the first week I went out before work for an individual run – I
decided that dealing with a little morning stiffness would be better than
slogging through the afternoon heat and humidity. I have a few aches and pains
(there’s something going on in the back of my left leg that I wish would go
away), but for the most part I feel good and am enjoying the routine I’m
settling into.
